My electric dryer’s timers work, the drum spins and cold air comes out of the outside vent but there is no heat inside the dryer. I don’t have a tech manual and do not know what to check for. Any ideas? TIA.
You will need a test meter or a friend with a test meter.
First check to see that you have 120v coming to each side of the connection block.
Then check the thermal fuse and thermostats for continuity.
Finally check the heating element for continuity, resistance (10 to 20 ohms) and make sure it is not grounded.
This should locate your problem.
Take the opporuntity to thoroughly clean out the vent area, including the blower. Your likely problem is the thermal fuse, it’s failure is usually caused by obstructed venting.
No problem
Here is a site with pics. Just disconnect the wires from the various devices and test them, after you have tested the voltage coming and then unplugged the dryer. Test them all, but number 5 is the chief suspect and usually the guilty one.
Thank you, I have identified the culprit. It is #4, heating element. That is if the element is 3 in long and 2 in wide. It states Part # 3399698 L121 1-44 4c on this element. Do you have this in stock?
I don’t get that part number to come up, but the heating element is pretty unique, a coiled wire. if there is any question at all just call the nice folks at APP (no, we don’t work for them) and they should be able to help you.
Just to check, what test results led you to believe it is the element?
