Dryer is overheating and shutting down after 15-20 minutes. If I wait a half hour it will restart and run for 10 minutes or so. The vent was badly clogged when this first happened but it’s totally clean now. I’m an electrician so it seems like it might be some high limit switch is not working. I’m not familar with the machine and don’t have a wiring diagram. I would really appreciate some help.
If you go to the Dears parts siteb there are part breakdown diagrams.
Unfortunately these are not available to other vendors.
It sounds like the motor is overheating.
This then trips it’s internal thermal protect and shuts the unit down. You then have to wait for the motor to cool down before the unit will restart.
Try turning the drum in the correct direction. It should turn fairly easily if not perhaps the motor is overloaded. You may want to try this on a couple other units to get a feels for it.
If it is hard to turn then there is a problem with the drum mounting or the idler wheel etc.
Give the interior a good cleaning including the motor and the blower wheel.
Check tht the seal between the motor and the blower is OK. If not the blower may be blowing hot air back onto the motor.
Could also be that the motor is on it’s last legs.
I cannot find a wiring diagram for this unit. I(t may be glued to the back of the dryer or in the control console.
