We get ice from the left dispenser but the water side stopped working. This suggests that the water pump is fine and that something needs to be replaced on the water dispenser. I don’t know what part to replace nor how to replace it. Any help would be great! Thank you.

David,
Has anyone found any plastic pieces in the grill on the dispenser bottom ?
When you press in on the water lever, do you hear a faint click, when the paddle is released do you hear another click ?
You’re almost correct, it’s not likely, but you could have a faulty fill valve.
You have a "dual" inlet water valve on your unit, one side for the water dispenser and one for the ice maker.
To access the dispenser switches on the front of the freezer door,
First unplug the power cord, or remove the freezer door top hinge cover and disconnect the wire harness, so you dont short out anything.
Slowly and carefully remove the dispenser front panel.
Two slots in the bottom edge of the panel, use a tool and force the bottom out off of the snaps in the dispenser body and push down on the panel to dislocate the tabs holding the panel to the dispenser body.
Check the wires going to the switch assembly on the backside of the panel for loose or broken wires.
Remove the switch mounting bracket cover panel , and check the paddle arm for cracks or broken, check pivot for the same, check the actuator switch for operation and click noise when you press the plunger on the switch.
Hopefully, you’ll be lucky and find a loose connection at the door hinge or the switch harnesses.
Good Luck,
Joe - thanks for the help. No plastic found near frig and no clicking at all. So I need to replace the"dual" inlet water valve and/or the dispenser switches?
Do we have part numbers for what I should order? Do I need any special tools? I have a wide selection of the standard tools for a do it yourself home owner.
Thanks again for all the help! I am so glad I found your website.

David,
Were it me,
I would start at the dispenser switch, since you did not hear a click,
[part]AP3131893[/part]
and like I said, you may find a loose wire and fix it without any parts.
As for tools, just plain old basic hand tools(screwdriver(s), both types, needle nose pliers for pulling wires off the switches(if needed) and maybe a set of nut drivers, or 1/4" drive sockets and ratchet wrench.
Do you happen to have a meter to test the switch circuit and resistance on the fill valve solenoids ?

And if you do need the water inlet valve, after all,

Let us know what you find,
Good Luck,
