Refrigerator not cooling

HI, I have a Frigidaire refrigerator model# FRS26R2AW3 thats not cooling anymore. Found frozen food thawed out and fridge not cooling. The compressor was not turning on but the relay-overload was clicking. I replaced the overload-relay with Frigidaire part#5304468029 and now the compressor turns on for 5 seconds, clicks and turns off again. Is there anything else that I could check?

Seems like your compressor is drawing high current, then shutting down on it’s overload which implies a bad compressor
Best way to confirm is with an amprobe. Also possable you have a bad, new start device, but rather rare.

I think you may be right, I bought it used and I’m looking up compressors and mine is a Samsung with R12 but the replacements are 134a. Do I need to find a matching R12 or is it ok to replace with new 134a?

The refrigerant used has nothing to do with the start device.

Sorry for the multiple response, this site was really slow to respond, like 8 minutes,
I would just order a new start device and post results.

I recently replaced the start relay and overload… is that what you meant? That’s why I was thinking I may need a new compressor if its still not working correctly.

If the fridg light dims a little when it tries to start, that would confirm a bad compressor, either that or use an amprobe to confirm.
