I have an Admiral Capacity Plus top-loading washer that recently began to make a horrendous noise in the spin cycle. I shut it down and tested the different modes and found that apart from the noise in Spin, the agitator is also not turning.
Moreover, the drum can easily be moved from side to side, allowing you to look down the side of the drum into the washer itself.
From research online and on this site I opened up the machine and checked a lot of the parts - the belt seems OK, as does the pump and motor. The main pulley underneath seems to turn fine in one direction but in the other it scrapes at a specific point of every rotation.
From this I believe at least one set of bearings are gone, but I’m not sure which, nor which parts/tools I need to order to make the repair.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
