First, I’m guessing at age of the washer (serial number : CK2212935, type 111). The agitator has begun to "slip" : it still agitates, but every so many turns, it makes a noise and, at that same time, it hesitates/doesn’t turn – appears to be slipping. It will eventually agitate normally, but the "slipping" doesn’t go away, it just continues to happen. When I exert downward pressure on the agitator, it seems like it helps eliminate the "slipping". So I’m thinking gears , "dog ears", hoping it’s not the Transmission . . . . what do you think / recommend ? Barb grovebarb2@gmail.com
Assuming this is a top loading Whirlpool sold under the Kenmore brand I think the most likely problem is the ‘dogs’. Change them out and see if that doesn’t fix things. One good thing, the dogs are about the least expensive part that exists on this machine.
