I own a Maytag washer, model LAT9704AAE that is fitted with an auger-type agitator; the previous owner must have changed out the original agitator. I would like to convert back to a one-piece agitator, one like the old turquoise one (part number 203323), or the newer version of this agitator (model 22004085). The only agitator listed for LAT9704AAE is model 207224. This, however, is not the agitator that is currently in the machine. Since many Maytag parts are interchangeable, is it possible to insert the older, slightly larger agitator in the LAT9704AAE model washer? According to online sources, agitator 207224 works in many older Maytag washers, such as models A106, A710, A710S, A806, and a host of others. Since 207224 fits some older models that come equipped with agitator 203323 or agitator 2004085, will the 203323, the 22004085, or some other similar version, fit in the LAT9704AAE?
