Maytag A612 washer washes only with 100% hot H2O. Won’t fill with warm or cold H2O to wash.
Rinses OK with cold H2O.
Please advise problem - bad valve?

DH,
Based on you post,
I’d reccomend you do 2 checks, repairs,
A) Check and clean the debris from the hose screens and valve screens in the fill hoses and flush both faucets for a minute or 2.
B) Check the circuits of the water temperature switch,
Cold temp., 7t(wht/blu) to 3(blu/black) terminals.
Warm temp., 7a(purp.) to 4(orng/black) terminals.
7t(wht/blu) to 3(blu/black) terminals.
Hot temp. 7a(purp.) to 4(orng/black) terminals.
I’m pretty sure, you’ll find your problem in one of these areas, as your timer fill circuit is working, as is your fill valve, but clean the valve and hose screens for proper fill times etc.
Good Luck,

Hot water hose + screen had significant sediment blockage plus a fairly large piece of rust about the size of a soybean After removal of deposits from hose end + cleaning screens, problem is fixed. Thank-you.
Suspect large deposit at end of hot H2O hose intermittently blocked hot supply. This explains why it’d fill to wash hot (probably @low flowrate), but not warm (if hot intermittently constricted/blocked, and higher cold flow masked low hot flow)
The A612 is best machine we ever owned. Had it >22Y!, bought 2.25.89, still runs great. Not as efficient as new machines, but >>more reliable.
We started shopping for new machines, they’re >more expensive for cheaper product, basically throw-aways, all teched-up with microprocessor controls, etc., all subject to fail.

Great job,
I knew you’d get it right, and it was a "easy" repair.
I agree with you, I’ll rebuild my 15 year old Maytag, before I’d buy a new unit,(15 years and no service , yet) !!!
Good Luck,
