We have an Amana NAV2330AWW that I recently replaced the drive belt because the washer failed to pump the water during washing (the cloths were very wet after the cycle finished) and there was a burning smell in the air after the load. (I suppose it didn’t spin, we just were not there until the load was done) When I dissembled the washer I found that the belt was very worn in a section about 2" along the belt while the rest of the belt appeared fine.
I replaced the belt and everything seemed to be working fine for a few loads, but now there is a bit of the smell, the tub doesn’t spin or drain, and I also noticed dripping under the tub in the area above the transmission. When we saw the the tub was not spinning, I opened the washer and found the tub "locked". After I jerked the tub back and forth to loosen it, the washer would spin and drain. The next load ended with the same result, no spin, no drain, tub "locked".
It seems to me that there is something else causing the problem, and the bad belt was just part of the problem.
Do you have any ideas of what to try next, or what might be the cause of the malfunction?
