Amana Washer Very Loud On Spin Cycle

Hello,

My Amana washing machine functions properly, however it has become extremely loud during the spin cycle. At times it is unbalanced and shaky during spin, which I fix by stopping and moving around the clothes, however the loudness is always an issue. This was not always the case, becoming a problem in the last six months or so.

The best way to describe it is that it starts out spinning as normal, but then once it enters the height of the spin cycle, it sounds how what I would imagine a small cyclone coming through the house would sound. The noise is intense and it almost seems like the speed itself is excessive.

Any ideas? Like I said, the machine still does its basic job, but I’m afraid it won’t hang on much longer before something worse happens. I was also wondering if you would have a service manual for this model of washer.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sounds like a main tub bearing, and yes you are correct, the machine will probably fail if you do not fix it.

I cannot link you to a service manual because Maytag/Whirlpool will no longer allow us to do so. You may be able to download one at a small fee, see ********** or other sites on the net.
