I have an amana top load washer and it started to smoke. I felt it was the belt and although the belt was broken, I do not believe that was the entire problem. I replaced it and the maching will agitate, but not spin. I am guessing it wasn’t spinning before the belt broke and it only broke because it got hot. Do you know what the problem could be.
The problem could be a bad brakes or a bad transmission. You can perform the troubleshooting as described in the Service manual.

Thanks for the diagrams. I also had the same problem. I am thinking that the main berring is bad. It certainly sounds like it, at least… Any input would be good
