Hello Forum Users!
Recently I replaced the the tub and stem seals using the kits available. The washer now experiences a banging noise, such as a locomotive making its way down the tracks, in the spin cycle that it didn’t previously. Rechecking my installation and the level of the machine, all appears as it should. I followed the video’s instructions and took notes, so I felt I did everything verbatim. It appears the noise is coming from the inner tub hitting the outer one. Could the tub be out of round, if so, how to make it true again?
I’ve also the older type tub cover utilizing a rubber seal with a steel band going around it. I placed the seal with the groove facing upwards on the tub cover then placed the whole works on top of the tub and recessing it about 1/2" inch within it with the rubber seal resting on top of the lip of the tub. Seems to be the correct positioning as there’s clearance between the tub cover and the washer lid. If not correct, please advise the proper procedure in positioning the seal and steel band.
