Blinking Lights on Panel

 The Normal, Cancel, and Drying light are all blinking continually on my KitchenAid Dishwasher Model # KUDIO2IRBL1. This happened once before and I just quite trying to use it for a while then after a few months I tried again and it worked for another 6 months. Now it is happening again and I am sick of washing dishes by hand. I would love to fix this myself, but need some guidance. I have ready many of the other posts and see tech sheets, but none come up when I click on them. Please help me!!!

You probably have a dirty touchpad ribbon or bad key pads on the control panel.

Thanks for your information Joe. We tried the diagnostic cycle and the normal light just flashed at us and nothing happened. We then cleaned the ribbon as you described and now nothing is happeneing for a while. we tried it again 5 minutes later and the normal light began flashing and then when we pressed other buttons the drying and cancel lights also began flashing.

My husband also took the door locking mechanism apart to make sure it didn’t have anything to do with that and all was ok, mechanically and electrically we got the same results as normal when pushing the buttons.

What should we do next? Is the part your were describing just the ribbon repacement or also the keypad and how do we install that if it needs to be replaced. It looked to me like the ribbon was attached to the keypad so they would have to come as a unit or something. I’m at a loss, but would like to get it fixed ASAP if we can. Thanks so much for your help!

Anrobert,

You apparently have several key pads that have failed,

If you order the control panel assembly, per the previous post, you’ll recieve everything you need( keypad, keypad ribbon, and the control panel, itself.

Since you have already checked and serviced the door latch assembly, you’ll have no problem replacing the panel, just a few more screws and clips.

Just remember to seat the new ribbon properly and use the lubricant around the ribbon and connector, so we don’t get corrosion on the connections.

Good Luck,
