Bosch dishwasher won't bring in water

Hi everyone, I’ve had this dishwasher I think at least 10 years and was told it was manufactured in 2003. I had one repair a few years ago where a motor had to be replaced.

Fast forward to this week: I had a horribly clogged kitchen sink, which backed water into the dishwasher. After I had a plumber fix the clog, I drained the water out of the dishwasher per the instructions. I then tried to run the dishwasher but no matter which cycle I tried, no water is pumping into it (and the water line to the dishwasher is not clogged). It’s almost like it’s stuck in drain mode, although the correct lights are engaged when I choose different wash cycles and different countdown times are displayed.

I called Bosch customer service and lo and behold, was told there has been a service recall going on for several years (although I never received notification) where the control panel needs to be replaced. Evidently, the dishwasher can allegedly continue to run and spark a fire. I don’t know if my current problems are related to the control board and am hoping they are. What’s a pain is I have to wait 2 weeks for a service call since the new control board has to be ordered, and if it’s not the control board causing this problem, the repair company will have to order whatever extra part they need and schedule another appt., cutting it very close to Thanksgiving and all the company I will have.

So I have 2 questions: does anyone know of a way to troubleshoot this problem myself? I also had the option to get a new Bosch dishwasher for 40% off, but not only do I also face the costs of a new dishwasher, it doesn’t cover cost of installation or hauling away the old one. The woman at the repair place I’m using said older appliances tend to last longer due to less electronic controls compared to new appliances. The plumber said if the dishwasher is over 10 years old I should get a new one. But this is a Bosch and I feel a dishwasher should last well over 10 years…Help and thanks!
