Bosch dryer WTA 3510 heats up only in the "Timed Cycles".

Our Bosch WTA 3510 will not heat up when using any of the Auto Dry Cycles. It will only heat and dry using the "Timed Cycles".

I checked the following:
Lint filter is clean
I cleaned the humidity sensor inside the door opening .
Heating resistors E2 and E3 measure correct resistance.
The Hi-Limit Overheat Thermostat B9 has continuity - I am assuming it is OK.
Two items I found not be correct:
*]On the front operating panel, from all of the "Moisture Level Indicator Lights" in the left top corner of the panel, only the LED "Drying" lights up when dryer is running.
*]The Temp Sensor NTC R2 is open (meter should read 18 to 22 kOhms) - I am assuming that it is defective and the reason why there is no heat in the Auto Cylces.
Other than replacing the NTC R2, what else would need replacement, if at all?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
