burners too hot

I just replaced the glass cooktop on my range because it was cracked. When we tested to make sure the burners still worked, all of the burners were heating up extremely fast and becoming hotter than they should especially at a low temperature setting. Any suggestions to resolve this problem? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
