Symptoms: Tripped circuit breakers (double 30 Amp breakers). Since everything seemed fine with the dryer, tested the circuit breakers and found that they are tripping at about 23-24 Amps, not the 30 Amps at which they are rated. Upon closer inspection of the dryer, found that resistors R53, R54, R55, R56 on control board show browning/burning. Everything else checks out fine. What could be causing both the circuit breakers to read lower and the dryer control board resistors to burn?
Exactly! Looks like an actual picture of my controller…

If this is the case this isn’t related to your breaker tripping.
I think you are seeing discoloration due to the fact that they get
fairly warm. I don’t think you are looking at a fire hazard here
if that’s what you are concerned about. I believe the worst
that happens with this is that you eventually loose the sensor
dry function or get erratic timer function when these fail. Notice
on the right that the resistors look different. Maytag made some
changes on this setup notice that the resistors on the right
look different. That’s because they are made of a different
composition that can tolerate more heat than the others.
