can I do this myself

I’ve just ordered a replacement water valve for my washer after a repairman diagnosed the problem. Can I replace it myself or do I need a pro? I am not very handy but can follow instructions. Thanks!

Improper installation of a water valve can lead to very serious problems and I would recommend to let a pro do it for you.

Here is a wiring diagram

Sounds like a wire has come loose somewhere.
You have probably done this but recheck the power at the plug.
Should be able to find it using ohms.
Safer than messing around with the power on.
Unplug the unit.
Set the meter to about 20 kilohms.
Measure the plug (Black to White) will probably be infinite.
Set it to where it should fill with water as this looks like the easiest circuit path.
Then just trace it back

I now have moved the washer to another room to make it accessible for the repairman. After doing that, I decided to check it one more time. Now rotating the timer knob will activate the various cycles, but the push/pull off/on switch seems to have no effect (machine still operates with switch in off position). I think it’s time to call a pro to look at this. The laundry is stacking up!
