I have water leaking out of the top of the pump, right where the drive shaft connects. what is the easiest way to replace this. Do I need to tear it all apart or just access through the lower front Panel. Also, what is the quickest way to release the tension on the belt?
You can do this job just by accessing the lower panel.
You release tension on the belt by rolling it off the transmission pulley. You can then release the tension spring, and take the motor/pump assembly off of the machine by unscrewing the motor from the washer.
You can now take the pump off and replace it, but make sure you note how the belt goes around the pump legs.
Its a little trickey doing this, but take your time, and I strongly recommend you get a friend to help.
Before operating the machne add about a half gallon of water to the tub. This will lubricate the new pump and prevent it from damaging the seals.
Good luck.
Thank you so much.
