I have a GE Monogram refrigerator, model no. ziss420driss. The repair guy is charging me $460 to replace the compressor inverter control board, GE OEM part # WR49X10283. I found the replacement on APP.com (AP5669522) but my question is can I replace it myself? Do I have to perform any diagnostic or other testing tasks or can I just plug it in and go?
If you get ohms across the 3 compressor terminals, the compressor is probably ok, so replace the inverter.
Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated!!!
I just replaced the inverter board, said a prayer, and plugged it in! So far so good. Both fridge and freezer are cooling nicely although the compressor is HOT! I opened the face plate door, propped up a 6 inch fan next to the compressor, and pointed it out so it draws the heat away. Richappy, thanks for your help. I still think I might have missed something and feel like replacing it myself wasn’t such a great idea, but like I said, so far so good!
