Replaced chopper, but the screen continues to get clogged. It does not feel like the chopper blade is engaging the motor. There is no drag when manually turning it. I ran the wash cycle for 15 seconds after fill with the chopper exposed, and the blade did not move. Is there a way to check chopper movement?
Possible the pump impeller is damaged. In such situation the whole motor has to be replaced. If you need the correct part number, post the complete model number of the dishwasher.

Is there anyway to be sure that the motor shaft is the problem. Is the chopper shaft suppose to engage and mesh in with the pump shaft before operation?

Yes Ben. The chopper should be engaged with the pump impeller. The chopper is new, so the problem very likely is a bad impeller. The only way to verify it is removing the motor.

thanks for your help.
You are welcome Ben. Keep us posted.

I just thought of something, can I leave the chopper assembly out for now. I believe it will just let bigger waste down the drain. Maybe a possible clog?
Ben
Ben,
It will definitely damage the impeller if it’s not damaged yet.
