Hi! I’m completely ignorant about appliance repair and am hoping and praying someone can point me to (or invent) a schematic that shows/explains the VERY detailed assembly of the chopper for my dishwasher.
When I took it out to clean the disgusting gunk out of it, I got a little too enthusiastic I guess, and it fell apart.
I think I’ve got it put together properly, but I don’t want to put the whole thing back together and discover it doesn’t work anymore.
Here’s what I’ve got figured out maybe:
-First there’s the plastic shaft with the spring
-On top of that is a metal washer
-Then the grinder/filter disk thing. One side seems to be rougher so I’ve got that side facing ‘out’ toward the blades
-Then another metal washer
- Then the blades with the flange-y things facing ‘out’ and stuck under some lip things on the plastic shaft
Oh yeah - my other problem is I can’t get the metal cap to stay on the shaft. I read how to fix that here http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_To_Repair_Dishwashers/KitchenAid_Repair/Chopper_Replacement but I’m not sure specifically how to accomplish the melting part so I could use some advice about that as well if possible.
So that’s my problem. MANY thanks in advance to anyone who can help me figure this out!
