clicking noise

My refrigerator was making a clicking noise every couple minutes. All the freezer items have thawed and the lower section is not cold either. I have removed the cover from the lower back and vacuumed as best I could. I also removed the plastic grate in the front and vacuumed. I emptied the drainage tray as well. I’ve cleaned the entire interior removing all shelves and drawers.

I then proceeded to plug the refrigerator back into the wall and had decided not to open it until tomorrow. However, it is still making the clicking noise. I have not opened it, but clearly the problem has not been resolved.

This appliance was new in 2001.

I would replace the start device AP3961332. If the old start device is way different, take a picture of it including the plugged in wires, then include it in your response.

Thanks! You were right and it only took a few minutes. I saved a ton by not buying a new refrigerator.
