When I activate the compactor you can hear it go down and start back up. Rather than stopping when it should, it makes a very loud thump thump thump noise until I start to open the drawer. At that point the noise stops.
Also, when I set the switch for SOLID PACK, it doesn’t. It goes down and immediately comes back up and finished by making the THUMP THUMP THUMP rapid sound until i try to open it.
Hi…I have the same problem. Did you get your fixed and if so, do you know what part was defective? I have exactly the same model and have already replaced the limiter switch - but that didn’t fix it.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Most likely the problem is a bad start-run rotary switch.

If the model number and the problem are exactly the same, then the solution is probable the same as well.
The switch at the lower right hand side used to activate the compacter was burned and sticking in the IN position causing the compactor to continue to run. Swapped out the switch and works fine.
The condensor cooling fan is not coming on when the compressor kicks on. Could this just be a defective fan motor?

David,
Yes, you most likely have a defective condenser fan motor.

Both the compressor and the fan motor use the same power source, from the control, so if one works, the other should as well(unless you have a loose connection or broken wire).
