Compressor

Had a saltwater flood about eight inches. Refridge is warm both sides. Fan works good; lights come on. Checked compressor fine, changed startrelay combo. Compressor still will not start, clicks on and off. Removed Cntrl-Elec board salt water residue on it. Can that be the problem? Should I change that?
Thanks

You might have a bad wire splice from the salt water. Check the voltage to the compressor when it tries to start. If not 115 volts, that confirms it.

how do you do that?

If the power spade terminals that go to the compressor start device are not insulated, just stick the probes there.

Don’t want to sound stupid, but I don’t know what power spade terminals are. When I looked up the images I don’t have connecters like that. I have 2 pieces that attach and plug directly into the compressor and a clip of wires that go into that.

What is the part number for the start device you replaced and is it the same as the old one?

W10189190 and yes it is.

With the correct replacement part installed with the fridg power wires installed, and the fact the compressor will not start, but clicks off indicates the compressor is bad, probably due to hard starting current from the damaged start device.
