Condenser fan motor

Condenser fan motor dosen’t run when compressor runs. It runs if red and yellow wires are jumped. Could this be a bad mother board? Symptoms were intermittent poor cooling and very hot front cabinet on both sides of the freezer compartment. Condenser coils are clean. When fan is jumped, problem clears.

Yes it probably is the mother board. You may can find brown or burnt areas on it showing it’s bad or you may not be able to tell but the motherboard does control the fans and you know it works. Part 801 on diagram 8. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5130671

The replacement on the diagram for your model is a dc motor so it should be 12 volts.
I’m sure it’s the board as you said in an earlier post. Just want to ask a few more, with your permission. I have three wires in the harness going to the motor. A red, a white and a yellow. I have 13vdc across the red and white. I have 13vdc across the red and yellow. Zero across the yellow and white. I’m not sure I understand why when I jump the red and yellow, the motor runs. Any thoughts? Thanks for your time and patience.

The middle one is a ground and the job of the board is to complete the circuit so it will run. You are completing the circuit on the fan end. I think your fan is good but you can also test in for continuity on the ohm setting on the meter. Place a probe on each terminal. the middle one is for ground and does not need to be tested. The multitester should display a reading approximately mid-way between infinity and zero ohms.

Thanks for all the help. Received the new board, followed instructions on cutting the jumper wire and all is well. There are two additional cable terminal connections on the new board, but are clearly marked and are not need on my unit. Do you know how I can get a schematic for this unit? Thanks again. RJ
