:rolleyes: Apparently defrost cycle is not working, causing ice to build up and impact fan, causing noise. I’ve checked the defrost heating element, but am not sure where or what controls the defrost cycle

Try forcing a defrost cycle.
If the heater comes on then the control board is probably bad.
Note that the defrost thermostat must be frozen as it opens just above freezing killing power to the defrost heater.
