dishwasher heating element woes

Hello…
I recently purchased a house and this dishwasher was installed by a previous owner.
The dishes don’t get dry and even when you select very hot wash you can put your hand in the water and it is not very hot.(I recently replaced the hot water tank and that helped, but did not cure the problem.
I tested the element with a vom, but I only noted that I got a reading but no Idea what it was.
I want to know if the heating element would have to be the only cause of this problem ?

Everything else seems to function OK.

Could the control board also cause this problem?

               Thank You,
                             Pat

I am assuming that you have opened the unit up in a dry cycle and do not have any heat during dry.

Heating element should be around 15 ohms.
Hi-limit thermostat should be 0 ohms.
I believe the thermistor should be around 10,000 ohms.
Also check that the wires from the control to the heater/hi-limit have continuity.
The water entering the dishwasher should be a minimum of 120 degrees.

Always disconnect one side of any device you are checking to ensure that you are not reading an alternate/parallel circuit.

Could the control board also cause this problem?
Yes. If everything else checks out OK then it is probably the control board.

Thanks a lot Denman…I will check those readings.
I kinda suspect the element itself though, but I thought there might be more things to check.
