Dishwasher leaking from motor area

My portable dishwasher has a slow but steady leak coming from the metal piece at the top of the motor. Out that hole I drew the arrow pointing to. Water pools above it but I can’t figure out how it’s getting there. I see no other drips or water anywhere other than here. The hose above it seems free of leaks and I’m pretty sure it’s coming from the motor shaft as well.

It leaks the entire time that it’s running, and continues to drip for some time after it’s shut off.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

A model number would be helpful.

I’d say it was your drain impeller and lower seal that is leaking. WP makes a nice kit that replaces all the important parts.

Thanks for the pics, it really helps.

The model number is 1777581

Thanks

Your model no. is still missing three numbers. Luckily I’ve had 26 years of experience with Kenmores. I added "665." to the front and came up with the kit part number.model no. 665.1777581

Hopefully your motor shaft won’t be half rusted away. It happens sometimes when the impeller cracks and it leaks for a very long time before being noticed.
