Dishwasher not draining completely

My GE Profile Model # gsd5940 will not drain out completely. I check all hoses and they appear to be clear. When the dishwasher runs through the cycles (any cycle) it will drain normally but seems to stop prematurely leaving about 1/2" of water above the screen. Any suggestions?

Here is your parts breakdown

Check the sump for debris

A common problem is the "Piston & nut" assembly not sealing correctly.
Item 564 in Section 5. It is under the tub’s rear grill. I believe it is a reverse thread.

I have the same problem with mine, but mine’s 12 years old. I have to syphon 6-8 quarts of water out of it when it’s done. It appears to drain fine between the wash and rinse cycles. I just found a 8-12oz of water on the floor in front of it after the last wash, so something’s got to change.

I was hoping that it was a simple water level sensor that could be replaced, but I don’t see any such thing on the exploded parts diagram(s).

What is your complete model number.

Also what have you tried if anything?

I have the same problem–dishwasher is kitchenaid KUDK01LBS6
I don’t know it is related or not, but I recently had to pull the whole thing and replace the sump housing after I cracked a hole in it screwing stuff together after a simple chopper clean out. Seemed to work just fine after that repair, but now there is dirty water in the bottom of the dishwasher after a load, although the dishwasher seems to clean dishes and gets through its whole cycle.

What is my troubleshooting plan?

GE’s and Kitchenaid’s are very different beasts so adding to this thread will just confuse things.
