dishwasher soap dispenser doesn't open during wash cycle

We just purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher from previous owners. It works great the only problem is the soap dispenser doesn’t open during wash cycle. I can’t shut the soap dispenser by just pushing it shut. I have to toggle the latch to get it to close. I think part of the latch might be broken off. Can I just replace the dispenser? I know from reading other threads the control panel sometimes need to be replaced and various other things.

Here are your parts

Replace the whole dispenser, that is the only way it comes. The part # is8269996. Kill the power to the dishwasher, open the dishwasher door, and take the torx screws out that hold the front on. They go all around the inside of the door. Once you do that, remove the front, and then remove the screws that are holding in the dispenser assembly, and remove the wires, and then put in the new one.
