Hi, the dishwasher fills with water OK. Then there is a faint hum and it does not go into the wash cycle. The little time indicator just moves around and around. When I cancel, it drains fine–the motor pumps it out.
I checked the spray arm and food grinder. All seem OK. Also I was able to turn the blade on the food grinder. It turned easily in one direction, but I had trouble turning it in the opposite direction. (It may just be spinning on shaft–I don’t know.)
Ideas???

That style dishwasher has a single direction motor, and a separate drain pump(that’s why it will drain but not wash).
You should check for 120 VAC to the pump motor from the control board.
( Blue wire to the motor to chassis ground, when the motor should be in the wash mode). You’ll need a multi meter to do the test.
Based on your post, you may have something stuck in the impeller assembly,
you may need to remove the motor from the pump housing and check,
