I noticed that a significant amount of water remains in the inlet hose (hose going into the drain pump) after a wash cycle is complete on my GE wsxh208a1ww. Is this normal, or should all the water have been pumped out? The part (#341) is called a trap on the appliance diagram. I’m not sure if this functions like a typical trap in the plumbing world where water remains in the trap.
It is normal for water to remain in the hoses and pump. Once the pump starts sucking air, it can no longer push the last bit of water out. It’s called a trap because it’s purpose is to collect any debris such as jewelry or anything else that doesn’t belong in there and prevent it from getting into the pump which could be damaged by such items.
