Drum doesn't turn on wash or spin cycle

Light duty operation. About 6 mos. ago the drum quit turning on both the wash and spin cycles. My wife changed the spin speed selection from 1200 to 1000. The drum began turning and the machine has worked fine until today. Changing the spin speed has no effect on it now. Everything functions normally as though the complete wash cycle is occuring. The drum doesn’t turn on the wash or the spin cycle. There is no unusual noise. The electronic timer, fill, drain and everything else seems to work fine. There is no fault code.
I never noticed if it did this before, but I can easily turn the drum by hand when the machine is off. I don’t know if that indicates a broken belt or not. It seems to me that the progressive change in operation may not indicate a belt as much as an electronic or motor issue.
Also, is it possible to check any of these components from the front of the washer or do I have to dig it out from the cabinet and go in from the rear?
All help is appreciated.

Thanks Gene,
I will run the diagnostic test and let you know the results.

I had a similar problem with all functions appearing to work except for the motor not spinning. I was not aware of a reset or diagnostic procedure without paying $$$ for a repairman to come in, who doesn’t know anything about Bosch in the first place. Simply reseting per the attached diagnostic worked! I was about to purchase a motor and/or control module and this saved me $500+. Why don’t they include these simple reset and diagnostic instructions in the manuals that come with the washer? Thanks for the help!!

Hi At,

Unfortunately I could not find any information for this model. Maybe somebody else on the forum can help you.

Gene.

Hi,
My Bosch WFK2401 washer does not tumble nor spin. By now I have replced the brushes on the motor which did not change a thing. The motor is still silent! The diagnostic code says "00". What could be wrong? What do I need to replace? The whole motor? How can a motor die without any marks! IS it the control board? The machine is still making the proper relay clicking sounds.

Claus

I was able to run the diagnostic test and got fault 08, motor won’t run. Which was the reason I tracked this down in the first place. Is there some way to get more precise about the reason?
