My Frigidaire clothes dryer (Model FSG447GHS0) does the following:
- Console settings: High temp, timed dry, dryer not run for at least 10 minutes
*]On start up the igniter heats for about 5 seconds and then the gas ignites.
*]The gas flame burns for 2-3 minutes and then goes out.
*]Neither the igniter or the gas flame will come on again if I re-start the dryer immediately. After 2-3 minutes when I start up the dryer again the igniter goes on but the gas flame doesn’t and then the igniter goes off.
*]After about 10-15 minutes, when the dryer appears to have ‘cooled’ down it will work okay for another 2-3 minutes.
I have reviewed the other Frigidaire clothes dryer heating problem posts and have tested the continuity of the following components. All tested as working correctly based on the continuity checks (see values in list below):
*]Igniter (#74 on the burner break down diagram) - 64.5 Ohms
*]Flame sensor (#79 on the burner break down diagram) - .1 Ohms
*]Safety thermostat (#33 on the cabinet break down diagram) - .1 Ohms
*]Heat control thermostat (#15 on the motor break down diagram) - .1 Ohms across the two main leads
I’ve also successfully tested the continuity for all three leads on the temperature selection switch (high, medium and low heat) and both the Timed Dry and Auto Dry leads on the timer switch.
Although the gas line solenoids work initially (gas flows successfully) I can’t determine if they’re defective since they can’t be tested.
Am I missing anything?
My sense is that this is either a thermostat problem or a solenoid problem but don’t know how to definitively test for the actual problem beyond what I’ve done. Is there a safe way to ‘bypass’ the various switches, thermostats and solenoids and see if it runs correctly for more than the 2-3 minutes I’ve been getting?
Thanks for your help with this.
