Been having a dryer problem. Had to run several cycles before clothes would get dry! In order to tell if it was a dryer problem or a vent problem, I disconnected the vent coming from the wall vent that leads to the roof and placed a sock on the vent coming from the dryer…Wala…problem solved. Came to find out that the vent pipe coming from the dryer & going into the wall, was going in too far, partically blocking the vent leading to the roof!
To correct the problem, will go to Lowe’s H/W this a.m. and buy a "cover
plate (made of sheet metal) that will cover the hole in the wall. This cover plate has a 3 or 4 inch hole in the middle (I’ll need to cut mine down, because where the hole is in the wall, the bottom part of the current hole is right at the baseboard. This cover plate has a small protrugin(sp) rising from the middle of it that I can attach the vent pipe coming from the dryer. The cover plate I’ll have to attach to the wall with some screws and use "putty" to ring the hole so that no air/heat can escape… Will follow up after the work is done…

Thanks for the info, let us know how that works out for you.
Things at Lowe’s didn’t work out. They didn’t have the "cover plate" I was looking for. Found it at Home Depot in the Plumbing section. To better describe, it’s a piece of flat sheetmetal with a hole in the center of it. The piece I found was just right and was approx 6" square…At first I thought I might have to cut the bottom off one side, but it turns out that the hole in the wall was close enough to the baseboard that the cover plate fell right into place by sliding between the wall (sheet rock) and the baseboard trim. It even had holes pre-drilled for screws (I used drywall screws) and I placed Plumers putty on both sides of the hole on the cover plate and the 4" vent pipe I had had small individual cut flanges 360 degrees on the lip of the vent pipe. I inserted the vent pipe into the opening in the cover plate(it only goes in so far because of a ridged ring on the vent pipe that won’t allow it to protrude all the way through the hole in the cover plate. Once in place, I used duct tape to make a seal on the outter edge of the cover place that was now attached to the wall. The next part a little difficult, because one doesn’t have much room with the washer machine still in place (Note: If you have a small alcove were most washer & dryers set in the home with this type of setup, I’d recommend moving the washer out of the way) I’m not a very large frame person and although tight, I was able to squeeze between the dryer & washer and very slowly alined the dryer with the vent pipe. ( I used an extended one instead of the accordian(sp) type vent pipe…It colapses to easily!..From the wall to the back of the dryer I have approx 6-8" of sheetmetal vent pipe…
To sum it all up, I took a large beach towel, soaked it in the tub, squeezed as much water, by hand, that I could and placed it in the dryer pretty wet! It dried the first time through! GREAT NEWS!..Last months electric bill was $196 and this month $172…
I realize this was a little long, but if someone out there has similar problems, I only hope this will help! I wish I had a pic of same, but if you go to Home Depot & possibily any other hardware store may have the same piece…You’ll recognize this 6X6" with a 4" hole in the center of it…Made of sheetmetal, light weight and the material is cut very thin. I’d say no more than 1/16" thick if at that…
