Dryer heat shuts off shortly after turn on

My maytag dryer heat just stopped working. At first, it turns on, your can hear the thermostat click in and dryer blows hot air inside the drum, and then after a short time it heat shuts off.
We also started hearing noisy sound (maybe bearing noise?) as the dryer continued to rotate the drum. The vents are all clear.

Also, I’ve lost the manual don’t remember how to open the unit. Do I need to open the top and front as well or just the rear?

Any help would greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It has quit. What it will not do is spin. It will agitate sometimes. When it’s turned on to spin or agitate and does neither I can hear the motor hum. I have checked all the necessary parts to ensure nothing is holding the motor from turning.

I suspect an electrical part has failed.

thanks

Assume you removed the pump to rule out something jammed in there? Remove cabinet and check motor wiring connector. Unplug and check for corroded/burned wires, pull on each wire to make sure none are broken inside the connector housing. Check connections at motor thermal overload. If all looks good, check capacitor which is located at back panel under the fill valves. Check connections there, remove capacitor and inspect for any cracks/splits or bulges. Problem can be caused by faulty capacitor, timer, motor switch. Remove screw from motor switch and take cover off to inspect contacts inside. Can’t find wiring diagram for your model, can you post clear hi-res photo of it and timer chart? Should be inside control panel either folded up or pasted to inside back panel.

I have checked motor for corrosion. I am going to do the other ekectrical checks you suggested. I will find the diagram and take pics if I don’t find the problem. I will say this about the timer. I can turn it to wash cycle and it will agitate and if I stay at that location I can push the button in and out make it run. If however I turn the knob full cycle back to wash it will not always run. Does that help?
Thanks Dennis

Sounds more like a timer problem. If you buy from APP you can return the timer if it doesn’t fix the problem.
