Dryer Heats for 3 min and shuts off, cools down and restarts by pressing button

My Whirlpool Dryer Model # LER3624EQ1 started Sunday DEC 24,2017 working normally. When I checked my clothing to be dried, I installed it and came back a while later to find it had shut off sometime just after I had started it. So this time I restarted it and waited to see what it would do. At this time it was set on High Heat dry cycle. Dryer Heats for 3 min and shuts off, cools down 5 min and restarts by pressing start button on control panel. Mine is one that has the old turn knobs and no electronic panels to check. After the next time it ran for only 3-5 minutes, I reset the unit to the high heat time dry for 60 minutes. Let cool down and next go round same thing, kicked off before 3 minutes even hit and just to see what would happen, I pressed against the door to make sure it was closed and hit the start button again but it would not restart. wait 10 mins and it starts again. Put it on Fluff Air dry which is little to no heat and it ran the entire thirty min cycle with no problem. Pulled apart back cover and cleaned out and rerouted vent tube. Then cleaned out blower and lint trap tubes but they had been done recently. Suspecting a high limit thermal switch and possibly a motor and belt with drum seal. Can anyone help me corroborate the suspicion and if it is indeed that, may buy a new dryer and washer if price is right, thank you.
