Dryer heats up, does not spin

My dryer does not spin when the start button is pushed. I took the back panel off and could see that the heating element was on but the drum does not spin. I replaced the motor and it still does not spin. Any suggestions on what to look at next?
Thanks.

did you check the belt to make sure it was installed correctly?
Nat

Yes, the belt was installed correctly

If the motor IS running, and the belt is installed correctly, The drum HAS to turn!!!

If the heat is on and the motor not running, Either the heater is SHORTED TO GROUND or the motor switch is STUCK!!! PS Check to see if you have 220V to the dryer, The heater will not come on unless the motor is running, Double check the heater for a short to ground

Hi CB527

We have a lot of suspects in your situation. I am assuming that you have examined the motor coupling and found that to be ok. You have, haven’t you?

Assuming your coupling operational, we have a lot of possibilities, including the timer, wire harness to the motor switch, motor switch, motor, transmission, etc. What we need to do is to eliminate some of them.

What I would like you to do is to take off the cabinet, but otherwise have the machine in tact and start it up. After it has filled you need to determine if the motor is turning. You can visually observe the motor, and if it is turning you will see air bubble rising from the pump into the tub. If the motor is not operational the pump will not be turning.

Anyway, do this and let us know what you find out.
