Dryer knob has to be adjusted constantly

I am unsure of the age, it came with the house when we bought it in August.

The dryer starts, but will stop. It will go again, if you push up or down on the knob, the knob where you set the time on the dryer. It is getting worse, and we have to have constant pressure on the knob to keep it going. What could be wrong?

Sounds like the timer (item 21 in the Top and Console parts section) is on it’s last legs.
Click on it’s picture for more info, a Q&A and a video about it.

Okay, so it will be over $100 to fix it?

Yes.
It may not be worth it unless the unit is in good shape.

Over all it works great, just this nuisance. Maybe I will just deal with it for a little, and then figure it out. Thanks!
