Hey guys, I just got an Ignis dryer in, and when I push the start button, it makes the end of cycle buzzing sound. Any idea of what this could be? I can go get the model number, but a model number won’t make a difference. I’m not sure why it would make the end of cycle buzzing sound when I push the start button, but any help would be great.
Can’t look up wiring diagram without model number.

If dryer motor isn’t starting, it’s a problem with motor. It’s either gunked up with lint or the springs on the centrifugal mechanism are missing/broken. Either one can cause the motor switch to malfunction because the centrifugal mechanism won’t operate properly. Switch is used to operate buzzer at end of cycle.

So you think the motor is dead?
Maybe but if it’s a lint buildup problem, you should be able to clean it out of the motor. You need to open the top panel of the dryer, take the front panel off and remove the drum to get to the motor for inspection. See photo. When motor is off, the springs on the centrifugal mechanism push the disc forward which operates a lever to operate the motor switch. You should be able to push that disc toward rear of motor and it should snap back when you release it. If it’s gummed up or the springs are missing/broken, it won’t work properly and the switch can remain in the run position when motor last stopped. One of the contacts in the switch connects to the buzzer and will power it when motor is turned off by timer and will sound until motor slows to the point that the centrifugal mechanism operates and opens the switch.

Okay awesome, I will give that a try. I have an extra motor I could swap in if I have to. I also have on more question. You know the little rubber pieces that the screws of the control panel screw into? (the screws that connect the control panel to the top part of the appliance, the ones under the end caps of a kenmore 80 series washer/dryer) Is there any place I can purchase that little rubber piece? This dryer is missing it, so the screw doesn’t hold the control panel to the rest of the appliance. If you need a picture I can get one.
Not sure but from what I can tell in the parts manual, looks like part number 357213 but appears to be a plastic push-in nut, not rubber.

Just put my other motor in, and nothing happens now. I know this motor is good because it works when I plug it into another dryer. Its the identicle motor. Any ideas?
Did you plug the door switch back in? You have a meter to check things with? These things are pretty simple, are you in appliance repair or just DIY’er?

I am a senior in highschoool and a friend of mine and I started an appliance business so I taught myself how to fix them using youtube and forums like this… and yes I did the door switch and I do have a multi-meter. All of the fuses on the back have continuity, and so does the door switch. Start button does too. Maybe its the timer?
Unplug dryer and set timer on, check continuity between timer terminals BK to BU and T to W.

So what is bad if the T and W terminals don’t have continuity?
Bad timer. No neutral to motor, motor won’t start.
