Dryer not heating

Hello,

My Gas Dryer is not heating. I have checked the gas line, that is open, I exchanged the ignitor and the radiant sensor. Unfortunately, it still does not heat. Could somebody please explain to me , what the root cause for the problem could be. I have the parts list for the dryer and could order the part to be replaced.

Thanks,

faudlo

The parts you’ve replaced are not common.

There are four more parts left in the heating circuit besides the timer which you have not replaced yet.

My question is: would you like me just to name them so you can replace them all, or you would like to diagnose the problem and replace the exact bad part?

If your choice is the second scenario, then you have to have a simple ohmmeter and I’ll be more than glad to guide you through the troubleshooting.

Let me know when you ready.

Gene.

Thanks Gene,
Sorry i just checked my e-mail this morning. The two options:

Tell me the parts in question. I still need to buy a simple ohmmeter. Perhaps I can do it today. I really appreciate your help!!

Let me help you out here. I imagine the the ignitor coil is not coming on. The common problem with this is the thermal fuse in the rear is bad. Here is what I want you to do to check it. Take the back off the dryer, and locate the thermal fuse. It is white, and about an inch and a half long by a half inch wide. It has 2 wires coming to it, and is held in by one screw. Take the 2 wires off of the thermal fuse, and put the terminal ends together, to jump out the fuse. Put a little tape around the terminal ends to keep them together, and to be sure they do not hit metal. Then plug the dryer back in, and see if it works. I bet it Does!!! If it does, replace the fuse. DO NOT RUN the dryer with the fuse jumped out, It is the only thing stoping the dryer from burning down the house. UNDERSTOOD!!! Let me know how it goes.
