Dryer power won't stay on

I have a front load dryer. When the door is open, the power light is on and flashing (like normal). As soon as the door closes, the power light goes off and no function works.

Not sure if this is related, but before this problem started the drum would keep turning for 30 seconds or so if I opened the door while it was on and drying.

Is this a door/latch problem or an electrical problem?

Kristin,

Most likely the problem is a bad door switch (27 on the diagram). You have to remove the dryer top panel to access the switch.
