My dryer has been squeaking for a few weks now I can not find the manual that came with it. I have been told that it is probably the Drum bearing. Can this be repaired by me or does it need a specialist and where and how would I get to the bearings. Without manual I am not sure.
The drum rides on a central bearing with a plastic sleeve mounted between the metal mount and the drum mount. That plastic sleeve gets thin and begins to make a squeak squeak sueak when it gets thin. You do not have to buy a complete kit you can buy a bearing alone if the mounts is not worn out. Some folks allow that squeal to go on untill the whole thing goes south OUCH!
The drum has got to come out to replace this part. To do so you pop the top and remove the front panel then get the belt off the idler and remove the drum. Get what is left of the old bearing out the hole and mount the new one on there. Nothing to it.
