Dryer Will Not Start

Dryer has power but, will not start. Timer does not run, drum light does not work, thermal fuse is good. Have any ideas.

Here is a wiring diagram

How do you know that it has power?

Since the unit’s drum light has also stopped working it points to either the loss of L1 to Neutral power or the door switch.

Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.
If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug
L1 to L2 should be 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts.
If OK
Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out
If OK
Check the power at the terminal strip.
Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!!

In answer to first question, I used multi-meter to check for power at terminal strip.

I find with door switch pluged in, I get nothing between L1 and L2 I get 240 volts, between L1 and Neutral I get 240 volts, between L2 and Neutral I get nothing.

With door switch unplugged, I get 240 between L1 and L2, 124 between L1 and Neutral and 114 between L2 and Neutral.

Power at recept’l is normal 240 volts between L1 and L2, 120 volts between L1 or L2 to Neutral.

I have checked wires at terminal strip for tightness and condition.

I checked door switch and found to be defective, however, after jumpering door switch unit would start.
