I have a GE electric dryer that won’t stay running. When I turn the start button the motor runs but as soon as I let go of the switch the dryer shuts off. I have replaced the motor and it still runs the same. Could it be the actual start switch? Thanks.
Here are your parts

Could it be the actual start switch?
I would doubt is as it is opening and closing.
I see on in the parts that the unit has a belt switch (Item 803 in Section 1).
I cannot get a wiring diagram for this particular unit so am doing a bit of guessing. Following is one way GE wires in this switch, as you can see it is in the start/run centrifugal switch path and so would stop the unit from running after the start switch is released.
Perhaps the switch is shot or is not being activated for some reason.
