Evaporator coils frozen - GE fridge gets warm

Hi,

I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. This problem occured @ 2 years ago and GE replaced the doors b/c of a class action.

Now about 6 weeks ago it started again. The fridge gets warm -er and when i check the freezer the coils are completely iced up. I defrost them with a hair dryer- as that’s what the tech did when he replaced the doors but this only lasts for about a week… There’s a round blue gadget attached to a metal tube at the top, it’s flush (saw that on another post). We put vaseline around the doors - suggested by someone.

I can only assume that something went bad as this happened all of a sudden, not over a period of time.
Any suggestions would be more than welcomed.
Model is gss22sgmdbs
GE side by side
Thanks in advance

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat

If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.
