Flooding ice maker

This ice maker flooded my kitchen, last November, replaced both water valve/solenoids. It just happened again, luckly we were home both times, does the ice maker control how long the water valve stays energized?

Hi.

What did you do to stop the water running?

Please reply.

Simon.

I was not there, but I know they shut the valve off behind the fridge. The last time this happened I thought I was safe replacing both valves and I even purchased a special water line thats suppose to shut off, if the volume is to great, guess that didn’t work so well!! the ice maker in this freezer has also been replaced about 4 years ago. What fridge would you recommend for the best quality, if there is one thats even built now?

Hi.

In order to assist you with fixing this problem you need to determine which part is at fault.

Open the water and while it’s running pull off the electrical plugs from water valve.

If the water stops - replace the valve

If water still runs, you need a new icemaker.

Thank you. Post the results.

PS. I prefer Whirlpool side by side.
