Our freezer went down during multiple short power outages during a thunderstorm. Power is still on for the door light and thermostat display but the compressor does not cycle. Do we suspect the compressor, or is a failed electrical part more likely? Trying to decide, repair or replace this two-year-old freezer?

First try unplugging the unit for a couple minute perhaps it will reset.
I am assuming that by saying " compressor does not cycle" you mean that the compressor is off.
How long has it been off?
Could be it is in a defrost cycle. This lasts about halfan hour.
Check if the compressor is getting power.
If not then odds are that the control (Item 151 in Section 2) is shot.
If yes then it could be the start device or the compressor.
