I am having an issue with the freezer fan. SOmetimes the fan seems stop. I have defrosted the compressor and the thermostat and the unit appears to run properly after recyling the defrost timer. Timer seems to cycle properly and when fan is run both freezer and frig are operating at proper temps. I have read some that on this unit that the fan may be controled by the thermostat and then it the does not close properly it will not start the fan when it cycles. Would someone have any ideas or confirm that it could be the thermostat. I will order the parts needed tonight.
Thanks Much !
Yes, The a wire goes to the thermostat and then to the fan. I have also read someone moisture in the connectors may cause problems also. BUt I a leaning more towards the thermostat. When it fan does stop there has been some frost on the upper section. But like tonight I put the defrost timer onto that cycle for a while and then turn it start and the fan does start. I do appreciate all of your feedback.
Without a meter to check things, you problem is hard to diagnose. I would remove the evaporator fan and motor and with a "cheater" cord plug it into a 115 volt source to see if it is intermittant.
if you do use a "cheater" cord as richappy has stated, besure that the motor is a 115v motor. on a few units, mostly electronic models, the evaporator motor is a dc low voltage motor. just be careful.
That motor is a 115 volt unit, I checked before. Most of the time, motor problems are due to bad bearings, just check and run the motor in the position it was in the freezer, horizontal or vertical.
I have the thermostat switch on order. Should be here tuesday or wednesday. Will let you know how it turn out.
I have replaced the thermostat and it has been working as it should for the last 6 days. I appreciated all the assistance that you have given. Thanks Much !
